Are you a person who appreciates beautiful things?
Admires an artist’s painting?
Gets joy out of visiting a gallery or a museum?
Has always dreamed of taking an art class?
Loves to dance?
Enjoys almost any music?
If you answered ‘YES’ to any of these questions, it most likely means that there is a child artist within you who needs to create! This child artist wants and needs expression and nourishment. Most people are so busy that they don’t take the time to create, play or express themselves. This child artist needs to be fed if it is going to be alive and stay alive.
What are you doing to feed your child artist?
I have had an interesting experience lately with my own child artist. This part of me is hungry for creativity and expression. This part of me has always admired people who can take beautiful photos. So….I put my perfectionist gremlin aside and started to feed my child artist by playing with my camera. Guess what? I’m amazed that I (yes, me!) has taken some beautiful photographs! I now carry my camera with me anywhere I go. If I see something inspiring, I stop and take a picture. Guess what else? I have started attending an art class in the home of one of my clients. See what happens when you put a request out to the universe!!
Ways to feed your child artist and express your creativity:
–Take a dance class, an art class or learn to play an instrument
–Instead of watching television–listen to music, read, draw or play a game
–Find a new recipe and try it out
–Make a collage. Just have fun cutting and pasting down pictures you like
–Write a story, a poem or a song
–Redecorate a room by painting it or rearranging the furniture
–Read and do The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
Go out and create. Find an artistic way to express yourself. Just have fun with it!
You might even discover a talent that you didn’t know you had!
“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.” Carl Jung
